The ring setting is handmade of 9 karat yellow gold and marked 375 the number for 9 karat gold. The setting is made in Birmingham, England, and has the hallmarks of the year date of 1894. The setting holds a hand cut oval cut Amethyst Natural gemstone of a medium shade of purple with a size of 50 points. Also set are 10 round cut natural clear Tourmaline gemstones at 10 points each. In this period of jewelry, making all gems were hand cut using diamonds to cut the stone, it was very labor-intensive and a skill that is almost lost today. Modern stones are now cut with lasers.
