1870 Handmade “Fleur-de-lis” Garnet Pin

Victorian Garnet Pin

3632 1870 Handmade “Fleur-de-lis” Garnet Pin: The handmade gold pen is made 9 karat rose gold and set with twenty nine hand cut and hand set natural garnets. The garnets were also hand selected from the deep red Almandine Garnets, which match in color.
Garnet, so called by the ancient Greeks because the color reminded them of the "granatum," or pomegranate seed. Noah used my inner fire as a lamp on his bow as he cast about on the ocean. The roots as a gemstone are found in the Nile Delta in 3100 B.C., where Egyptian artisans would craft me into beads or inlay me into hand-wrought jewelry. In the Victorian language of Gemstones Garnet meant “Virtue” and garnets are the birthstone for January.
The “Fleur-de-lis” design of the pin is a French design and also a New Orleans symbol of their town. The design of the fleur de lis is a Lily Flower, and also used as a mark of dignity. The pin has the original T-bar pin and C-clasp and is in excellent condition.
