B513 Civil War Era Rose Gold Ring with Natural Amethyst Gemstone:

Handmade ring that is a very pure Victorian design. It was handmade in the mid-1800 of 9-karat rose gold. This color gold is very pink; adding copper to the yellow gold makes rose gold; some items are a little more “rosy” and others. The ring has the wide wedding band style of band 4mm wide and the amethyst is a natural gemstone that is 6 ¼ carats in size. The gemstone is held into the ring with 4 wide prongs and 8 base prongs, and original design.
Leonardo Da Vinci wrote that amethyst was able to dissipate evil thoughts and quicken the intelligence. This ring is from the Maryland, but I do not have family history. The amethyst was one of the most popular gemstones in the Victorian time period. It was a favorite stone of royalty. The ring is in excellent condition and is Size 6 3/4 and fine to wear daily.
