Pre-Civil War Diamond and Pearl Ring Wedding Ring:

Antique Rose Cut Diamond and Pearl
Victorian Wedding Ring
A289

The ring is handmade of 18 karat yellow gold by a goldsmith. The setting is set with six hand cut Rose Cut diamonds and a center Pearl. The ring is circa 1850 and from Kansas City Missouri. The Rose Cut Diamonds are small; this ring was a labor of love and patients to create. The center diamond is a 3mm natural ocean Pearl.
Antique Diamonds: When judging diamonds in antique jewelry, one must be careful not to judge antique diamonds by modern standards. Antique diamonds have a soft romantic glow that many people find very appealing. Antique diamonds typically have higher crowns, deeper pavilions and thicker girdles than their modern counterparts. Antique diamonds were cut to maximize carat weight, not "fire". That's why the proportions of old diamonds are quite different from their modern counterparts. Diamond Cutting was a laborious, time-consuming process.
The ring is a 6 ½ now but can be re-sized larger or smaller if needed. The current insured value of this ring is $1725.00 as of September 2014.
