Circa 1865, came from a collector in Philadelphia, handmade oval links which each link was hand engraved. The Lock is in the shape of a heart, locks the links onto the wrist with a gold Key. The key is held onto the bracelet with a chain. The lock does work and it represents that the person giving the bracelet is saying “You hold the Key to my Heart”! The tradition was for the man to give the gift as a betrothed gift for his bride to be. This bracelet is strong to wear and is 7 inches long. Very pretty and very Victorian design of romantic jewelry which is in excellent condition and fine to wear. Current insured replacement value as of July 2013 is $1500.00.
