The ring setting is handmade of 18 karat gold and has 12 prongs to hold the 5 carat natural Amethyst gemstone. The rings shoulders in the gold work are extra detailed in the handmade setting. This style of setting is called crown set which was an extra fine quality of work which looks like a crown when looking at the ring from the side. The hand cut Amethyst is a medium shade of purple and is a nice clear stone.
