4453

This bracelet is a one of a kind and the gold work is handmade of 9 karat Rose gold. It is marked 9 karat, and also has a date hallmark of the year 1899. This makes the bracelet 111 years old. To be an Antique in Jewelry it has to be 100 years old. The band of the bangle is made by first making tubing of the 9 karat rose gold, and then the hollow tubes of gold are gently formed to make it flat in the inside of the band. The center decoration was then set with 4 hand cut cornflower Blue Sapphires and 5 Seed Pearls and added to the bracelets band. This color of sapphire was the favorite color of the Victorians. The sapphire represented “Innocence” in the Victorian “Language of Gemstones”. The oldest sapphire mines are situated in Ceylon, today called Sri Lanka, where gemstones were mined in ancient times. The expert recognizes Ceylon sapphires from the luminosity and brilliance of their light to medium blue color.
The bracelet will fit an average size wrist, it is 6 ¾ inches for an inside measurement. This is a fine example of Victorian Handmade Jewelry and is in excellent condition with its original safety chain.
