Quality Victorian Pendant with Diamond, Sapphire and Pearls.

This handmade gold work has wonderful detail and craftsmanship. The circa date for the item is 1880 and in 14 karat rose gold. The tiny seed pearls 32 pearls in this pendant; were from the Red Sea. Pearls were so expensive to obtain, the craftsman would be very careful not to break the precious pearl in cutting the half seed pearls to set or in drilling the Baroque pearl which dangles from the bottom of the pendant.
A small but nice quality Diamond is in the center and a “Corn flower Blue” Sapphire is set at the top of the pendant. Sapphires in this lighter color were favored by the Victorians.
Diamonds mean: Forever Thine in the Language of Gems in the Victorian times. Pearls mean: Modest Loveliness in the Language of Gems.
Sapphires mean Innocents in the Language of Gems.
The overall length is 2 ½ including the bale and 3/4 inch at the widest area. I have included a new chain that is 14 karat gold and 18 inches long. This pendant is in excellent condition and a quality dainty piece that is lovely.
