Quality Pre-Civil War Dated 1848 Turquoise Ring

Tuquoise Early Victorian Ring

The ring is all original and hallmarked with the letter year for 1848—the Sheffield Crown showing it was made in Sheffield England. This ring is from a Richmond, Virginia family and handed down. The handmade gold work is 9 karat yellow gold and this is also marked with the other hallmarks inside the band. The ring setting is a flower design with seven natural Persian turquoise gemstones.

Turquoise represents “Happiness in Life – Success” in the language of gemstones of this period. Queen Victoria’s wedding ring was set with Turquoise and Pearls, which made the design both popular and desirable. The ring is Size 7 ¾ now and can be resized without decreasing the value. This is a beautiful ring in excellent condition.
