This was made by a Jeweler about the year 1860, and set with two hand cut natural Sapphires. Each Sapphire is at least ½ carat in weigh. One sapphire is a “cornflower blue and the other is a deeper blue. The design means “to you from me”. The shoulders of the ring are set with four seed pearls on each side.
Blue Sapphire Information:
The Island of Serendbe (present day Sri Lanka) holds one of the earliest records for the mining of Sapphires. Ancient people believed that the power of wisdom is contained within this precious gemstone. They believed that when the wearer of a Sapphire faces challenging obstacles, the stone's power enables them to find the correct solution. The modern word Sapphire is derived from the ancient Latin term "Sapphirus". Sapphire in the Victorian Language of Gems meant “Innocence”, and is the birthstone for September.
The ring is in excellent condition and fine to wear. The ring is a size 8 now but has been resized at one time and can be resized again if need to be larger or smaller.
